About Capital School of English
Capital School of English offers a variety of English language courses to students of all ages and nationalities – from complete beginners to advanced speakers, and with class sizes ranging from one-to-one to groups of up to 12. Students are taught in modern, well-equipped classrooms and have access to a range of up-to-date study materials and resources (including a student lending library), a study area, internet and email , and tea and coffee-making facilities. All our teachers are graduates with long and varied experience of teaching English as a foreign or second language to students of all levels and backgrounds, both in the UK and overseas.
Courses run throughout the year from January to December and vary in length and intensity, from short one-week courses for those wishing merely to ‘polish up’ their English to year-round courses for students intending to progress to further study or employment in the UK or other English-speaking countries.
Irrespective of the length or level of the course:
• All students’ individual needs will be identified at the outset via one-to-one interviews, and we will help in formulating an effective study plan
• Groups will be of mixed nationality, and no more than 12 students
• Progress will be continually assessed.
The School is situated in the bustling port area of Edinburgh called Leith, about a 10-minute bus journey from Edinburgh city centre. Leith itself is undergoing something of a transformation these days, with the creation of hundreds of new flats, offices, restaurants and hotels under the auspices of the Waterfront Development, and a major Retail Park at Ocean Terminal. The Scottish Office, Scotland’s main administrative centre, is based here and it is also home to one of the UK’s most popular tourist attractions, The Royal Yacht Brittania. Although the School affords immediate access to all of these new and exciting facilities, it is situated in a much more traditional building in a well-established part of Leith, offering a calm and comfortable learning environment.
Accommodation can be arranged by the School if required.
Classes begin any Monday.
A certificate is issued to each student at the end of their course.
School is closed on following dates:
Christmas 3 weeks, 10/4-13-4 for Easter, Bank holidays 4/5, 25/5, 3/8, 30/11.
